" Kvas " Enjoy this traditionally Russian, non-alcoholic, malt beverage. The word Kvas is Russian by origin and means “ sour beverage”. It was so popular that in the “Encyclopedia of food” it was written: After water, the most widespread beverage was Kvas … we even think that people drink it more often than water…”

History

Kvas has been a common drink in Eastern Europe since ancient times. When scientists turned their microscopes on the drink they found that kvas improves the metabolic processes in a way similar to yogurt. Kvas also contains lastic acid, vitamins B, B2, PP, amino acids and different microelements and this maybe the reason why it is such a good hangover cure. Besides, kvas improves the appetite and boasts high food value. On the basis of this scientific evidence kvas was given to scientists who needed to bulk up.

Manufacturing

Kvas is made by the natural fermentation from wheat, honey. Usually use traditional process to brew its. It is chock-full of valuable minerals, assists in digestion, and serves as a powerful thirst-quencher.That it is considered acceptable for consumption by children.

In Russian hospitals kvas was a necessary daily beverage for every patient. Kvas is also used for preparing a summer cold soup.
